| This book took over twenty years to complete. When it finally
came time for a title, I hesitated calling it a mere cookbook
because that implies just another collection of recipes, and
as youll soon discover, its kind of like calling
Mt. Everest just another hill. A hill you forget, but Mt.
Everest permanently transforms you. In the sense of how long
you live, and even more so how well, this cookbook
and full dietary and lifestyle plan -- no matter who you are
or what your health condition is -- will significantly transform
your life. |

Yes, that may sound lofty, but my integrity is important
to me, and I am committing here in words for you that I am
certain of it. How can I be so sure? Let me start by telling
you a story...
Just a few months ago, I had my first consultation
with a wonderful woman named Sally. She was 45 years old,
stood 51, weighed 300 pounds, and suffered severe
depression, diabetes, anxiety attacks, extensive fatigue,
insomnia, and rheumatoid arthritis symptoms -- for starters.
She was on an astounding twenty-five different prescription
medications via her previous physicians, and had already undergone
six major surgeries in her life. With all of this conventional
healthcare, though, she was still and with increasing
momentum heading downhill.
Sally became a patient at my clinic for the same reason
many chronically ill patients do. She was desperately fed
up with the false promises of the Band-Aid approach of conventional
medicine, which was obviously doing nothing to address the
underlying causes of her conditions, and had heard about my
programs immense success through treating the true cause
of health problems and teaching people to make necessary lifestyle
changes.
Sure enough, within just two months Sally stopped
ten of her most dangerous (and unnecessary) prescriptions,
shed already lost ten pounds, and experienced a dramatic
decrease of her depression, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue,
so that these once debilitating issues were no longer noticeable.
Again, this was within the first two months, and Sallys
health continues to improve. So was it some magic pill or
complicated surgery I administered? Of course not. It was
the program you will find in this book. We determined her
metabolic type, recommended the ideal foods for her type,
administered the tools to help her overcome emotional barriers,
and recommended the few choice supplements and the exercise
youll find in these pages. She stuck with it, and experienced
those dramatic results in a period of time much shorter than
she had even dared imagine.
Sally is not an exception but the rule with my program.

which all of the recipes in Part Two are based, my clinical
team and I have helped many hundreds of people at even more
extreme stages of illness and obesity improve and recover
-- many of them cases that conventional healthcare providers
considered lost causes. Meanwhile, my program

stages of chronic disease, with weight issues, and with other
health conditions recover their health. This is both through

I am of course proud to have helped so many people already,
but more so I am honored, and I thank God everyday for letting
me do so. Frankly, Im often still also amazed with the
overweight, diabetes and other chronic disease epidemics raging
worldwide, the media spotlight has recently been very strong
on my program for its particularly high success rate
at helping people with those conditions. But there are the
thousands more -- those who were experiencing milder conditions,
such as fatigue or frequent headaches, those who want to improve
their athletic performance, and those who simply had the foresight
to seek to prevent disease in the first place -- whose health
has also been transformed for the better by the plan. The
bottom line is, no matter who you are, this plan will help
you, likely even more than you anticipate.
If you think it all sounds a bit too miraculous,
well, I really cant blame you. Every day were
bombarded by ridiculous claims from new diets, supplements,
pills and programs promising you the sun, stars and eternity
but often delivering nothing more than dust. Its understandable
if youre skeptical. And so you do deserve to know how
the plan and all the recipes created specifically for this
book will truly improve your health and life. Which takes
us right back to my opening point:
This book took over twenty years to complete. Not the physical
writing of it, of course, but the books most important
aspect: the dietary and lifestyle plan it is founded on. Beginning
in the late 1970s, when I was still in medical school, I had
a strong notion that nothing was more essential to health
and healing than proper diet. A few years later, as a young
physician, I began what would become my lifes passion
and mission: to determine through committed investigations
and practice the true ideal diet to help people
prevent chronic disease and weight issues, and to reach their
highest potential living a long life full of energy and free
from pain.
In the late 1980s through early 90s I experienced
some major transformations of my own regarding my perception
of the conventional healthcare system -- namely, that its
foundation was fatally flawed, as it was almost exclusively
centered on treatments and mere patchwork, but not prevention
and reliance on the intrinsic healing capacity God gave each
and every one of us. This further motivated me as I recognized
that people were confused about what the right
diet was. They had major amounts of conflicting advice about
fats and proper nutrition, and were intentionally being misled
toward devastating food choices and perceptions of healthcare
by the fast food and pharmaceutical industry that had much
to gain in the way of money and power from doing so. People
deserved the real answer, not information tainted by politics
or greed, and I was committed to finding that answer.
The history of my dietary plan upon which the recipes in
this book are based is filled with many breakthroughs obtained
through my investigations and review of the medical literature
and, even more so, my clinical experience with patients over
the past two decades. But Ive been asked in interviews
many times to name the most important ones, those that profoundly
shifted and expanded my understanding and, once I implemented
them into patients lives, improved their conditions
most dramatically. In chronological order, Id have to
say these are the big three:

Your health, whether you have disease, weight issues,
or decent health already, will improve dramatically if
you eliminate, or vastly reduce, the amount of grains
and sugars you consume.

Your emotional health is directly related to your physical
health, and by using the emotional health tools discussed
in these pages, you will greatly improve your ability
to permanently optimize your weight, fight and prevent
disease, and live longer.
-
You, like all people, have a unique biochemistry, or
metabolic type. And there are specific foods,
at specific levels, that are most ideal for your type.
Conversely, some foods that are generally considered healthy
may not be as healthy for you as you think. One of the
important keys this book will help provide is learning
your metabolic type and major metabolic typing principles
so that you can both vastly and rapidly increase your
dietary success.
These Big Three are covered in detail for you
in Part One of this book, as are all the other tenets of my
dietary plan that you need to know in order to use the recipes
in Part Two for their healing, preventative, weight loss,
performance-enhancing and life-extending abilities. By the
time you finish Part One, you will have a true total health
plan customized to you in particular. The wonderful thing
about the plan is that its entirely designed around
whats naturally right for your body, so sticking to
it, you will find, will simply be following a diet that your
body naturally gravitates toward. Eating according to your
metabolic type is not the challenge you may fear it will be
and you will be astounded by the results.
Part Two contains all the new recipes based on the dietary
plan, including the required ingredients, detailed how-to-prepare
information, yield, and nutritional values. Whats more,
most recipes are really several recipes in one, because you
get detailed information on how to fine-tune the
recipe to make it more appropriate for your metabolic type.
You can cook from the recipes in Part Two even if you havent
read Part one yet, but youll find the recipes, and your
health, will greatly benefit by reading Part One and learning
your metabolic type. Finally, because central tenets of my
dietary program include low-to-no grains or added sugars,
if you are diabetic or cannot tolerate gluten or grain products,
you would obviously benefit from these recipes without even
reading Part One -- but dont make that mistake. Again,
by reading Part One youll learn how to improve your
condition dramatically.
Which all leads me to some final words on how this much-more-than-just-a-cookbook
